N_FNAME( <cFilespec> )


Parameters

<cFilespec>
Filespec to parse.


Returns

1-8 character base file name portion of filespec. Period (.) is not 
included.


Description

N_FNAME() does not verify the existence of the file.


Example

// See what alias of a file will be if no 
// 'ALIAS' clause specified in USE
fname = 'C:\APPL\DATA\Cust.dbf'
? N_FNAME(fname)
CUST
