N_FEXT( <cFilespec> )


Parameters

<cFilespec>
Filespec to parse.


Returns

Extension (file type) portion of filespec (including leading ".").

Note  A solitary "." is a valid extension.

If no extension was specified, null string ("") is returned.


Description

N_FEXT() does not verify the existence of the filespec.


Examples

// Returns string '.dbf'
? N_FEXT('C:\appl\custfile.dbf')
.dbf

// Returns null string since no extension
// was specified
? N_FEXT('\appl\tempfile')

// Returns '.'
? N_FEXT('data.')
