 L1       L1 = put the speaker on low volume.
          L2 = put the speaker on medium volume.
          L3 = put the speaker on high volume.
          Many modems have a knob to adjust the volume instead.
          This has no effect on the a modem's ability to hear
          remote modems.  It is purely to satisfy human personal
          preference.
