CVMD Convert Microsoft Format to IEEE Double Precision
y# = CVMD(8-byte-string)
Converts an eight-byte string expression read from a Microsoft-format
random file to a double-precision numeric variable in IEEE format.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes: Because of the way Turbo Basic stores numbers in random
access files, numbers have to be converted to strings
before they can be written to disk; when read from the
disk, they must be reconverted from strings to numbers.
Turbo Basic uses the IEEE standard format for storing
floating-point numbers. The BASIC Interpreter and
QuickBASIC use Microsoft's proprietary format. The CVMD,
CVMS, MKMD$, and MKMS$ functions handle conversions
between the two formats.
