The following conventions are used throughout this documentation.

Syntax Conventions

<exp?>              Expression of a specific data-type, where ? equals
                         C for character, D for date, L for logical,
                         N for  numeric, or any type if omitted.

<memvar?>           A memory variable where ? indicates the type:
                         C for character, D for date, L for logical,
                         N for  numeric, or any type if omitted.

[ ]                 Optional syntax.

[...]               Option may be repeated.

[, ...]             Option may be repeated, each iteration must be separated
                    by comma (,).

|                   A choice, e.g., ON|OFF.
