   If errors are encountered when opening files, we suggest the following
   checks:

     . Check if SHARE is loaded. If yes, verify its parameters. The
       recommended parameters are: /F:4096 /L:100.

     . In CONFIG.SYS, increase the value of the system variable
       FILES. The suggested value should be greater than 89.

     . In AUTOEXEC.BAT, increase the value of the F: parameter
       in the SET CLIPPER command. This parameter indicates the number of
       files that a Clipper application can open at the same time. This
       intervention is actually valid only if problems occur during the
       opening of the data or index files when a generated application is
       run. The value needed for the parameter depends on the complexity of
       the application.
