X-Hacker.org- dBsee 4.6 - The Library - Norton Guide http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]

During the design phase of a data entry system or during the definition of
an object or control, dBsee allows to attribute a specific color to the
selected element(s). The colors management in dBsee is WYSIWYG. This
means that the color defined during design of the data entry system (the
color displayed in the generator) will be the same as the one that is seen
   in the generated application.

dBsee allows to define default colors for the menus, and that will be
adopted by all objects of the project that do have a menu. These default
colors are defined in the environment activated by pressing the
Projects and Properties buttons from the main menu.

A specific color can be attributed to each dBsee element (object or
   control) in two ways:

. From the element definition frame.

. During the design phase of the element.

In the first case, the Options button, present in each definition
frame, or the Ctrl-Enter key activates the properties environment in
which parameters, in the Colors section, can be assigned to the
   various available colors.

In the second case, in the design phase, with the Alt-C keys. This
method is also much more easier to use.
The Alt-C keys are contextual to the position of the cursor. Pressing
such keys activates the color chart relative to the element which is
currently being highlighted. If the cursor is positioned on the background
of the object, the color chart for the object will be activated. If
pressed on a control, the color chart relative to the control will be
   activated.

Every dBsee element is characterised by a group of components that can
be displayed on screen with a different color. For example, to a Get
control, it is possible to associate different colors to the Prompt,
Hot Keys and to its own activation state (active/not active).

The color chart, activated by the Alt-C key, is shown in the following
   figure:

The parameters that can be set in the chart are:

Configure Allows to select the component of the element
whose color is to be modified

Foreground Foreground color of the component

Background The background color of the component

The Ctrl-arrow keys allow to move the color chart on screen.

A rapid way to set the background color of the selected control(s) to the
object's background color, is using the Alt-B key.

For the controls that allow the editing of data, it is possible to define
two different colors depending on the fact whether the control is being
highlighted or not. This last case is also the situation for Data in
   display only.

In fact, the Data color component allows to attribute a specific color
to a control when data is displayed and a different color (Highlighted
data color component) when the control selected/highlighted. During
design, the control's color is automatically adapted to the new setting.
