X-Hacker.org- dBsee 4.6 - The Library - Norton Guide http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]

In this chapter the different types of reports available in dBsee will be
examined and the way they are to be defined will be detailed.

To define a new report, a label must be added to the menu for the report
management. Press, from the Application's main menu, the Menu labels
and Reports buttons. By selecting the buttons, a list of report
formats accepted will be given. The types available are:

. Listing. The data to be printed comes from a single file
(not considering data coming from LookUp files).

. Invoice-like. Data comes from two files linked together
       by a 1:N relation.

The type chosen will determine the relative definition frame to be
displayed. The frame will be needed to enter the necessary properties. The
logical sequence of operations to perform in order to define a report is
   the following:

. Selection of the main file to scan and (optionally) its
       ordering index.

. Setting of the grouping criteria.

. Optional selection of the files related to the main file
that, with this last file, will make up the Virtual Record.

. Optional definition of the summary (computed) variables.

. Design of the report format.

. Optional association and design of the eventual Query
       object.
