A memory variable, defined as a Symbol, can be referenced in each defined
   object.

To create a variable proceed as follows:

. From the dBsee main menu, press the Dictionary button.

     . Press the Symbols button.

Now you can proceed in one of two ways:

     . First mode

. Use the Variables button to display only variables.

     . Press the Ins key.

     . Second mode

. Press Ins without filtering the display.

. Highlight and select the Variable option.

In both cases, the definition frame of the variable will appear.

     . Therefore insert:

     . Variable Name.

. Type (Character, Numerical, Data Logical, Memo).

     . Length.

. The GET Picture is computed automatically on the basis of
what was defined (the F5 will allow you to cycle through the
different get types). Additional information can be found in the
       Fields chapter.

. SAY Picture (obtained automatically from the Get).

. Brief description of the variable (alphanumeric string of 30
characters that will be shown when designing the masks and report
       formats).

. Message (alphanumeric string of 80 characters that will be
displayed on line 24 of the screen when, in the final application, the
cursor is positioned on that field).

. Confirm the creation of the variable with F10.
