     . Access the Symbols environment by pressing the
       Dictionary and Symbols buttons from the dBsee main menu.

     . Filter the Symbols list to display only fields by pressing
       the Fields button.

     . Press Ins to insert a field. As you can see, the name of
       the file that the field is to be associated to is not asked for.
        For the correct insertion of a field, please follow the steps shown
       in the paragraph Fields in this chapter.

Using an inserted field

   To reference a file's field created within the Symbols environment,
   proceed as follow:

     . Access the Dictionary environment.

     . Position the cursor in correspondence to the file to which
       the field will be associated.

     . Press the Fields button and then Ins key.

     . Now press F7 to display the list of defined files.

     . Select and confirm the desired field.

     . Confirm the name of the field inserted again. All the
       characteristics set for this field in the Symbols environment will be
       shown.

     . Confirm the operation with F10. The field has now been
       referenced in the file.
