X-Hacker.org- dBsee 4.6 - The Library - Norton Guide http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]

dBsee 4 allows you to take advantage of the mouse in all the operating
environments. dBsee handles two type of mouse cursors: text-mode and
graphical. The text-mode cursor is a colored block moving row- and
column-wise, while the graphical mouse cursor is shaped like an arrow and
moves pixel-wise. The selection is made by setting the MouseVGA
parameter in the [dbsee] section of the DBSEE.INI file (directory
\DBSEE4\BIN). The mouse is also available in all of the environments of
   the generated application.

With the mouse, it is possible to execute a majority of the operations
that can be executed with the keyboard. The use of the mouse is logical
and allows you to avoid remembering the meaning of many keys.

dBsee displays four icons in the lower-right part of the screen, that
allow to: call the help, view the active keys, access the properties, or
quit the environment, respectively. (See also paragraph The User Info
   line)

We will now show a list of all the operations that can be executed with
the mouse in the various operating environments.

In the definition environment

In the different definition environments present in dBsee it is possible
to select an element, modify it, delete it or create new elements.
Examples of definition environments are the Dictionary environment for
the definition of the data dictionary and the Application environment
for the definition of the menu labels.

Positioning The left button allows to highlight the file (Data
Dictionary) or the menu label (Application)
                           desired.

Select The right button click confirms the selection of
the current row. Pressing the right mouse button
corresponds to the pressing of the button
                           currently highlighted.

Modify A double left click opens the definition frame of
                           the selected element.

Menu and closing In the upper left corner of each definition
environment a system menu box is displayed. When
clicked, displays the system menu of the object.
The system menu contains some pre-defined options
that allow to create, modify, or delete the
entities to which the environment refers. A double
click on the same symbol will close the definition
                           environment.

Specific definition environments are the definition frames in which you
can define the various parameters of the elements that make up the
application (objects, controls, files, fields...). In the definition frame
the parameters of the elements are displayed allowing the user to modify
them. In this environment the mouse can be used to move from one parameter
   to the next.

In Design mode

Sizing Clicking the left button on one of the four
corners of an object, and moving the mouse while
keeping the button clicked, will cause the
                           selected element to be resized.

Moving Clicking the left button on the top row an object,
and moving the mouse while keeping the button
clicked, will cause the selected element to be
moved. Other controls are moved by clicking on any
                           point in the control.

Menu and closing The System Menu box in the upper-left corner of
the object allows to open the object's system
menu. The system menu contains some pre-defined
options, for instance to move or resize the
object. A double click on the same symbol closes
the design session on the object.

Modification A double click on the control opens the mask for
                           the modification of its parameters.

Insertion A double click on any point of the object that is
not occupied by a control will open a menu that
allows you to insert a new control.

Multiple selection Clicking the left button on a free area of an
object, and moving the mouse while keeping the
button clicked, will cause all elements inside the
marked area to be selected. The selected controls
                           can be moved later.
