Syntax

ALENGTH( aArray[, nStart[, nStop ]] )

Purpose

Determines the total string length of a string array.

Arguments

     aArray -- array containing strings

     nStart -- array element at which to start (defaults to first
                   element)

     nStop  -- array element at which to stop (defaults to last element)

Setup

None.

Returns

The total string length of the elements in the specified range of aArray.

Side Effects

None.

Example

     LOCAL _array := { "A", "Quicker", "Brown", ;
                       "Fox", "Jumped" }
     ? ALENGTH( _array )                 && Returns 22
     ? ALENGTH( _array, 3 )              && Returns 14
     ? ALENGTH( _array, , 3 )            && Returns 13
     ? ALENGTH( _array, 2, 4 )           && Returns 15
